Initial Notice on 02/09/2024:

When you are retired and have Medicare coverage as well as coverage from the Compass Rose Health Plan, generally Medicare pays your health care bills first and the Compass Rose Health Plan pays second. It was recently brought to our attention that UMR, our claims administrator, erroneously reported the status of these retirees to Medicare as having the Compass Rose Health Plan as their primary insurer instead of Medicare.

For impacted members, this error may cause their provider to see the Compass Rose Health Plan as their primary plan and could potentially cause medical claims to be denied by Medicare. Impacted members will receive a letter from UMR with additional details on how UMR will proactively work with Medicare to resolve this issue. In the meantime, if you have an issue seeing your provider or receive a denied claim, please call UMR at (888) 438-9135, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET to talk to a dedicated customer service representative. UMR staff will work directly with Medicare to ensure Medicare is the primary insurer for those impacted and work directly with providers to ensure coverage is not disrupted.

UMR is actively working with Medicare to update their records, if needed. We greatly apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
